There are plenty of different homemade hair masks that you can try that won’t cost you a lot of money and most likely you have all the needed ingredients right in your kitchen or bathroom.
I have tried a few different of these homemade masks, and some are great and others are just okay.
Here are 3 homemade hair mask recipes that you really need to try.
Avocado Hair Mask
* 1 tbsp honey
* 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Mash up an avocado so that there are no large chunks and it is smooth. Then add to it the honey and olive oil and stir until everything is combined. The mixture will be thicker and creamy.
Apply the avocado mask to your hair starting at the roots and working your way down the hair. Leave the mask on your hair for approximately 20-30 minutes. Wash your hair with lukewarm water to help remove the entire mask from your hair.
Your hair benefits from the fat in the avocado and olive oil and helps to nourish the hair.
Egg and Greek Yogurt Hair Mask
*1 egg yolk
*1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
*1 tbsp honey
Stir the egg yolk, yogurt and honey together until the mixture gets bubbles and becomes frothy.
Take the mixture and massage it into your scalp working your way down your hair until all of your hair is covered. You can use a clip or shower cap to hold your hair up and allow the mask to sit in your hair for at least an hour.
Wash your hair with lukewarm to cold water (you don’t want to use hot or you may end up with scrambled eggs in your hair) making sure to get all the mixture out of your hair. You can use a gentle shampoo if you have trouble getting all of it out, but it is better to only use water.
The eggs give the hair protein enzymes which helps restore damage and makes your hair healthier. The Greek yogurt also helps with nourishing your scalp and hair and even helps with scalp problems like dandruff.
Milk and Honey Hair Mask
*1 cup whole milk
*1 tbsp honey
Simply mix the milk with the honey and apply it to your hair making sure to cover your entire head as well as the ends of your hair. Leave the mask on for 15-20 minutes and then use warm water (not hot) along with a gentle shampoo to remove the mask from your hair.
The milk and honey helps to nourish and moisturize your hair. The milk also helps provide vitamins and proteins that your hair needs to help it grow and stay healthy.
There are really all sorts of different DIY hair masks that you can make at home. You may find that you can even mix some of these masks up with different ingredients or add some other ingredients that work well with your hair.
As I mentioned before, I also like to use coconut oil on my hair as that can be a simple way to nourish your hair and you don’t have to mix any other ingredients with it, but apply it directly to your hair.
Don’t be afraid to experiment with different hair masks and ingredients to find the perfect one for your hair.
